When you are applying for scholarships the first thing you need to do is make a list of scholarships which you know. Making a list of scholarships will give you an idea as to how many are there for which you can apply. You should try and make your list as long as possible. If you don’t know about many scholarship programs you can ask your career counselor or go online. By using a simple search engine you will be surprised to find out hundreds of scholarship program.
There are even websites which gives you a free list of scholarships available to college students. So then you will get a very long list. When making the list of scholarships you should note down even the criteria for scholarships. After you have all the different scholarship programs you then sort out your list of scholarships.
Apply for all those for which you qualify and even for those which you meet some criteria. At the most what will happen is you will not get a scholarship. But remember if there are no takers you do stand a chance to get it. There are so many scholarships which go waste just because no one applied for it; so who knows you might get it. Even after you have applied keep your list of Scholarships. You will know for which you got and which ones you did not.
From your list of scholarships also apply to the ones which have lesser rewards. You will have better chances at it because not many students apply for it. If you get 10 small scholarships it will pay you better off then one large one. The key is to apply for all of them on your list.
